Company Profile

The internationally operating msg Group is one of the leading IT consulting and systems integration companies in Germany. With 21 locations across Germany, msg provides industry-specific comprehensive solutions not only for core sectors such as insurance, automotive, and financial services, but also for the energy industry and the transport sector.
Globally, around 10,000 experts work not only for the success of the msg Group but also on sustainable processes and digital ecosystems.

Initial Situation:

msg is gradually electrifying its fleet and aims to enable both workplace charging and home charging for employees, with reimbursement for private charging sessions. Around 100 employees currently charge their company cars at home using individual energy contracts and various charging systems. Additionally, charging infrastructure at the company’s Ismaning location is available and should be utilized.

Target State:

A BaFin-compliant, automated process will ensure reimbursement for employees' private energy contracts while minimizing the administrative burden for all parties involved. The costs for home and workplace charging will be allocated to the appropriate cost centers, and a unified authentication system will be used across all charging locations. msg also emphasizes the need for user-friendly software with quick access to charging data and minimal training requirements.

The Solution:

To meet msg’s needs, ChargeIQ has developed a tailored, automated solution:

  • BaFin-compliant process: The reimbursement of private charging sessions is handled through an automated process that integrates the employees’ individual charging stations and energy contracts. This significantly reduces the administrative burden for both employees and the company.
  • Use of existing hardware: ChargeIQ supports over 20 charging station manufacturers, allowing for seamless integration of the diverse charging systems already in place. This flexibility also enables the use of private vehicles or a second company car on the same station without requiring additional hardware investments.
  • Unified authentication: A flexible authentication system simplifies access to both public and private charging points using existing employee IDs and roaming charge cards.
  • Cost center-specific billing: ChargeIQ's solution allocates charging costs at both home and the workplace to the relevant cost centers and integrates this data directly into msg’s payroll system.
  • User-friendly software: The intuitive software provides quick access to charging data and reports, minimizing support requests. The onboarding process is smooth, supporting both employers and employees throughout the charging workflows.
  • Customizable processes: The submission of receipts can be customized according to employee number, license plate, or department to meet msg’s specific requirements. The solution also includes retrofitting measures and training to ensure smooth implementation.

Conclusion:

ChargeIQ has provided msg with an efficient solution that supports the sustainable electrification of its fleet while minimizing administrative and billing complexities. “The ChargeIQ platform has helped us advance the electrification of our fleet and achieve cost efficiency and transparency for charging our company vehicles both at home and at the company location,” says Oliver Pastor, Head of Administration & Finance at msg. “Thanks to the high degree of automation and the platform’s accessible interface, our model is scalable and well-prepared for the growth of our electric fleet.”
